Rik’s Story
I met my wife on Match.com nearly twenty years ago, back when “meeting online” still raised eyebrows. I was a single dad and a busy professional who saw online dating as the smartest way to meet people. It worked. I met the love of my life.
I’ve always believed in what technology could do for connection, but somewhere along the way, dating apps lost their soul. Swiping replaced substance. Ghosting replaced curiosity. What was meant to bring people together started keeping them apart.
As a Black man, I’ve always noticed how systems exclude people, by race, by sexuality, by relationship style, etc. I’ve never been comfortable accepting “that’s just how it is.” So I built HAEVN to offer something better: a space for people to meet with intention and honesty, no matter how they love or what they’re looking for.

HAEVN isn’t designed to launch everywhere overnight. Each city we open is a living, breathing ecosystem, a place where real people can meet, connect, and grow together.
What’s Next
We’re preparing to launch the HAEVN app, our first big step toward making intentional connection accessible to everyone.
Over the next few months, we’ll open the doors to our first members, starting in Austin, TX. From there, we’ll expand city by city, growing slowly and intentionally to protect what makes HAEVN different: real people, honest intentions, and a community built on trust.
This isn’t just another launch. It’s the beginning of a new way to meet, one that values quality over quantity and depth over distraction.
